Collin Meissner

Degrees: B.A., University of British Columbia, Canada; Ph.D., University of Notre Dame
Research Profile: Meissner joins the ranks of faculty from a position in the Ph,D. in Literature Program. His scholarly research focuses on cultural and hermeneutic methods of critical analysis, particularly of experience, in American and British literature. He has authored numerous articles on aspects of narrative and the novel. His book, Henry James and the Language of Experience, was published by Cambridge University Press (1999). He is currently working on a book project tentatively titled Capital Crimes: the Role of Money in American Literature and Culture. Meissner has held several previous positions at the University of Notre Dame: he was an Assistant Provost, a long-time member of the Undergraduate honors teaching faculty, and currently serves as Associate Director and Director of Graduate Studies for the Ph.D. in Literature Program. He will continue to serve in the last mentioned capacities.
