American Studies Welcomes Pamela Butler

Pamela Butler will be joining the American Studies faculty for the 2010-2011 academic year. Butler will be teaching AMST 30155, American Men, American Women and AMST 30177 Civil Rights and Protest Movements.

Butler earned her PhD in American Studies, with a minor in Feminist Studies, from the University of Minnesota. She is visiting Notre Dame for the 2010-11 academic year, after four years teaching film and feminist studies at the University of Michigan-Flint, where she received two awards for teaching excellence. Butler's recent work has been published in Meridians: Feminism, Race, Transnationalism and in Queer Twin Cities (University of Minnesota Press). She has been awarded fellowships and grants from the University of Minnesota, the University of Michigan, and the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation.
