Bob Schmuhl Talks to Ireland's The Right Hook During Launch of New Book

Author: Rebecca Corrente

Reflecting on the 1916 commemoration, Robert Schmuhl, Professor of American Studies at the University of Notre Dame, told George Hook he leaves the country with an 'enormous amount of admiration for how Ireland has looked at its past.'

Schmuhl, whose new book Ireland's Exiled Children: America and the Easter Rising looks at the Rising itself, spoke to George in studio, stating that America was a country that concentrated on its future to the detriment of its past, and that the commemorations that marked the centenary were part of a huge organisational effort.
