She holds a joint appointment in the Department of History, and has served as the William W. and Anna Jean Cushwa Director of the Cushwa Center for the Study of American Catholicism at the University of Notre Dame since 2012.

As an NBC commentator for this historic Papal visit, Kathy will draw on her firsthand experience and share her insights. Audience members will have the opportunity to remark on their perspectives and ask questions. Dr. Cummings is an Associate Professor of American Studies at the University of Notre Dame and holds a joint appointment in the Department of History. She has served as the William W. and Anna Jean Cushwa Director of the Cushwa Center for the Study of American Catholicism at the University of Notre Dame since 2012. Her areas of expertise include U.S. Catholicism and the history of women and American religion.
