Advising

Each semester, American Studies majors work one-on-one with a different faculty advisor to help choose courses and chart a path through the major. Advisors help to ensure that all Major and University requirements are met in time for Graduation, while exploring student interests and offering suggestions for courses and possible research topics. Through individual meetings, majors have the chance to engage with the professors of the department and build strong relationships with the faculty.

Beginning in fall 2012 faculty advisor names will appear on student GPS worksheets and on their academic tab in InsideND.  Advisors typically contact their advisees in the weeks before registration to arrange a meeting but students should feel free to make appointments at other times as needed.  Students may direct advising questions at anytime to the Director of Undergraduate Studies, Professor Jason Ruiz
