Burn It All Down is coming to Notre Dame!  “The feminist sports podcast you need,” available on multiple platforms and social media, recently posted its 256th episode and reached the 1 million-download mark two years ago. Burn It All Down covers sports and culture through the lenses of race, gender, and sexuality.  It addresses issues from sports labor practices and social activism to disparities in media coverage and the politics of participation — all in support of a healthier and more inclusive athletic landscape.

On October 11, all five hosts—Shireen Ahmed, Amira Rose Davis, Brenda Elsey, Lindsay Gibbs, and Jessica Luther—will help inaugurate the new Minor in Sport, Media, and Culture by recording a live episode for a public audience at Browning Cinema in DeBartolo Performing Arts Center.

The Panelists

  • Shireen Ahmed teaches sports journalism and sports media at Toronto Metropolitan University
  • Amira Rose Davis is assistant professor of history and African American studies at Penn State University and author of the forthcoming book Can’t Eat a Medal: The Lives and Labors of Black Women Athletes in the Age of Jim Crow
