The Department of American Studies presents “Becoming the Fighting Irish: ND’s Place in Football History and American Culture,” a public lecture by Michael Oriard (‘70).

Oriard is Distinguished Professor of American Literature and Culture (Emeritus) at Oregon State University and has authored a number of cultural studies of football after playing for Notre Dame and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Co-sponsored by the Department of English, the Department of History, the John W. Gallivan Program, the Notre Dame Alumni Association, the College of Arts and Letters, and the Institute for Scholarship in the Liberal Arts.
