Last fall SMAC introduced a spectacular course on NIL. SMAC 20401 - Navigating Name, Image, and Likeness (and Ideas) at Notre Dame proved to be a success. Students with a personal, professional, or academic investment in the NIL shared a robust discourse on meanings surrounding name, image, and likeness.

Taught by Claire VeNard, Associate Athletics Director, the course, developed an understanding of what NIL opportunities look like in real life and the relevant NCAA, legal and policy guidelines.

The course explored to complexities of NIL through guest speakers, lectures, and events outside of class. Students particularly enjoyed conversations on the resources Notre Dame has to maximize NIL opportunities.

Navigating Name, Image, and Likeness (and Ideas) at Notre Dame will be taught again this fall.
